Rader Love: “Never Say No”

Part of a month-long celebration of artist Paul Rader’s work.

Never Say No, by J.L. Bouma (Midwood, 1964). As his fellow author James Reasoner explains, Johanas L. Bouma was “a prolific contributor to the Western pulps from the mid-’40s throughout the ’50s and published more than a dozen paperback Western novels,” including Danger Trail (1954), The Avenging Gun (1965), and Hell on Horseback (1981). Bouma is also said to have penned at least one Western, The Hellfire Kid (1964), as “Steve Shannon,” and he contributed short stories to non-Western pulp magazines such as New Detective and War Stories.
